Guaranteed Admission (GA) Program

a. What is the GA Program?

The Guaranteed Admission Program is an agreement between the University of Connecticut and the Connecticut Community College system.  It is designed for students who are enrolled in a Liberal Arts transfer program at one of the Connecticut community colleges and plan to earn a bachelor’s degree in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and/or the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut.

b. How does the GA Program work?

You must formally apply for the program through your community college transfer counselor before you have earned 16 transferable credits.  By selecting the appropriate program and courses while enrolled at the community college, you can meet UConn requirements at the same time as you satisfy requirements for your associate degree.  During your last semester at the community college, as you prepare to earn your associate degree, you will send your “Intent to Enroll” form -- available from your community college transfer counselor -- to the University, seamlessly moving into your chosen program at UConn.

c. Who is eligible to participate in the GA Program?

If you are currently enrolled at one of the Connecticut community colleges, are following a Liberal Arts transfer program, and have earned fewer than 16 credits, you are eligible for the GA Program.  Former UConn degree-seeking students are not eligible to participate in the GA Program.

f. Will my community college courses meet University requirements at UConn?

With careful planning, the courses you complete as part of your Liberal Arts transfer program will satisfy your University General Education Requirements, as long as you earn at least a grade of “C” in your individual classes.  Even better, you will arrive at UConn prepared for junior/senior level courses both in your major and related academic areas.  See how some community college courses meet University requirements by clicking the links below:
